Why Every Kitty Deserves a Chance

We all love a good underdog story, or in this case, an undercat story!

Every year, we get the purrfect excuse to celebrate some of the most special cats out there and shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the feline world: the kitties that might not immediately catch your eye but are still so full of love and purrs.

It’s Adopt a Less Adoptable Cat Week, and it’s a special time to champion those who might need a little extra help finding their furever home.

Every kitty deserves a chance, but for one reason or another, some cats just have a hard time finding their new best (human) friends. Still just as deserving love, here are a few examples of cats that might spend a bit longer searching for their furever homes:

  1. Senior Cats – Older kitties who have plenty of love to give but might get overlooked for younger, sprightlier kittens.

  2. Shy or Timid Cats – Cats who take a little longer to warm up to new people and environments but will become the sweetest companions once they feel safe.

  3. Cats with Medical Needs – Felines with chronic conditions or disabilities who may require extra care but often live long, happy lives with the right family.

  4. Cats with Unique Appearances – Whether they’re missing an eye, a limb, or have scars, these cats might look a little different, but their hearts are just as full.

  5. FIV+ or FeLV+ Cats – Cats with these viral conditions can live for years with proper care, but misconceptions often leave them waiting longer for adoption. (See our FelV Spotlight HERE.)

These under-the-radar felines often make the most loyal and loving pets! Once they open up to you, often you’ll have a tiny little companion following you around the house, nuzzling into your lap, or giving you that contented purr that says, thank you. 💕

Adopt a Less Adoptable Cat Week is a reminder that love knows no age, appearance, or health condition. This week, let's cheer for the cats who are a little different, a little special, and a whole lot lovable. Because when you adopt a less adoptable cat, you're not just getting a pet—you’re gaining a lifelong companion who will remind you every day how lucky you both are.

Let’s make this the best Adopt a Less Adoptable Cat Week yet, one purr at a time! 😻🎉
